SXSW Create: Making the Unicorn Mosaic, from the field

Take a look at a few snapshots of the mosaic tile creation process at the SXSW Create tent on Red River. We had a lot of enthusiastic participants that lended their creative vision to our mosaic- from artists, to venture capitalists, to neurologists and marketers… we had a busy booth and lots of curious and excited visitors! Even Adam Balkan of  New York 1 stopped by and talked to Wythe and dubbed our project: “…probably the world’s first ever giant unicorn-shaped piece of bacteria…”! Adam, we’d be willing to bet that you’re right!

Stay tuned- we’ll be sharing updates as we continue to create… The World’s First Ever Giant Unicorn-shaped Piece of Bacteria!

Daniel Grushkin of Genspace explains the engineering behind the phosphorescence in the bacteria, as well as how to use the bacteria as "paint" for the mosaic to an anticipatory participant and an onlooker.
